Mountain Muesli is a family-run company founded in 2011 by Chris Young, a stay-at-home dad with a passion for good food.
Chris and his family have spent time in Europe, where muesli, a cereal made from oats, nuts, and fruit, is a common way to start the day. When they returned home it was hard to find a tasty muesli in the grocery store. Chris started experimenting at making his own and Mountain Muesli was born.
Chris recently introduced a gluten-free variety and continues to create new flavors in his kitchen on Sprague Avenue.
Made in Tacoma
The cereal is made in small batches in Tacoma, Washington. A dedicated facility ensures the products are never contaminated with wheat, soy, corn, eggs, dairy or peanuts.
Local Ingredients
Ingredients are locally-sourced whenever possible. This includes the oats, flaxseed, honey, and many of the dried fruits.
Natural Sweeteners
Mountain Muesli is sweetened with a blend of honey, agave syrup, and coconut sugar, which has one of the lowest glycemic indexes of any sweeteners. Barley malt is also used in the non-gluten-free varieties.
Why are nuts included?
The most common nut allergy is to peanuts, which are not a nut but a legume. While some people do have sensitivities to tree nuts, the nutritional power of nuts make them a vital ingredient to deliver protein and "good fat" that keeps you feeling satisfied.
